Coco Gauff Loses To Swiatek In French Open Final

Coco Gauff Loses to Swiatek in French Open Final

Swiatek Claims Second Title in Paris

Gauff Falls Short in Historic Run

Iga Swiatek of Poland stormed past American teenager Coco Gauff in the 2022 French Open women's singles final to claim her second title. Swiatek, the world number one, dominated the match from the start, winning 6-1, 6-3 in just 68 minutes.

Gauff, who was playing in her first Grand Slam final, struggled to keep up with Swiatek's power and consistency. The American made 25 unforced errors to Swiatek's 10, and was unable to break Swiatek's serve.

Swiatek's victory extends her winning streak to 35 matches, the longest by a women's player since Serena Williams in 2013. She is now the first woman to win multiple French Open titles since Justine Henin in 2007.

Gauff's defeat is a disappointing end to a historic run at Roland Garros. The 18-year-old became the youngest woman to reach the French Open final since Kim Clijsters in 2001, and her performances throughout the tournament have shown that she is a future star of the game.
